We are thrilled to announce that Guest Editor Aimee Bender has chosen two of our SAND Issue 15 pieces for Best Small Fictions 2018.
“Knowledge” by Christoph Keller is among the winning pieces in this year’s selection. Christoph writes in German and English, and is the author of many prize-winning novels, plays, essays, and a memoir, The Best Dancer (translated by Alisson Gallup), which is about his life with spinal muscular atrophy, a progressive neuromuscular disease. "Vesuvius" by Cole Meyer, also featured in Issue 15, is among the finalists and will be included alongside “Knowledge” in the anthology that comes out this fall.
This year’s crop is an amazing list of other talented writers, including Lydia Davis and Aleksandar Hemon, to name a few. And we at SAND are very grateful to get to work with some of those excellent writers, as SAND pieces have appeared in every edition of Best Small Fictions so far. You can view the complete list of winners and finalists for Best Small Fictions 2018, which was announced Friday 23 March, on the Braddock Avenue Books website.
